Seam opal from Glengarry/Grawin. There is a fine red seam on the top. This stone has been priced on the visible coloured portion which is only on approximately a quarter of the top.
A very large piece of potch. This piece measures 13 X 12 CM. The opal that is a cutable stone is what can be seen. There doesn't appear to be any other seam.I have put this up so as it can be purchased as a specimen. or the stone could be calved into something special. I have ground the rest of the face to see if the blue hue had clor underit unfortunatly it doesn't.
The potch seam is about 3/4 to over an inch thick. It is not quite parrallel seam.
The top is black which can bee seen in the picture but quickly changes to grey. There is clay on the back

For the not so adventurous a great specimen of what Grawin opal is.
The colour bar on this pieces looks like it only goes in on the corner. (About 1 cm triangle )That is what the piece is priced on if its bigger then you have extra well.
