Eromanga
 |
You are getting towards
the western edge of the opal area (the back and beyond ).
From here you can keep going to the corner of the state and into wild
out back country. Of all the towns scattered through Australias
vast inland, it is the tiny outback township of Eromanga that can
boast that its the town which is furthest from the sea. |

This settlement of about 80 people is a place of opals and oil wells
- and people visiting the area will also notice that the further
west they go, the more variety there is in the countryside.
The Eromanga district is the start of the channel country
and everything from waterholes to mulga country can be seen.
